We bought FS2004 at Xmas and installed it successfully on my computer ...
(Dell 4 1.8 GHz, 512 Ram, NVidea GeForce3 Ti 200 video card, new Microsoft
Force Feedback joystick, XP Professional).

So, we decided to upgrade my husband's computer so he could run it. We just
took delivery of a new Dell 8300 (Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, 512 Ram, 128 ATI
Radeon 9800 card, XP professional) this week. First thing I did after the
setup was to install FS2004 on it and transfer the joystick.

But ... on the new Dell, flight training centre sound is a bit jerky and
when opening/closing modules the video flashes multiple times. The older
Dell works better.

Any ideas? The system is only a week old! ( I tried changing the sound to
no acceleration on the Direct X console, but that made the sound worse, so I
restored it.)

One more bit of info ... I transferred the CH Pedals to the new system too,
but have them disabled via clicking the Autorudder.

You might check out the Dell site or ATI for newer drivers for the video
card.

You might check video and sound card sites for updated drivers.
Actually you probably should check the Dell site for updates for you
system hardware. At one time Dell systems could use the manufacturer's
drivers for updates but I found some Dell systems where you had to us
the Dell version (Apparently they decided to emulate Compaq <G>). I'd
suggest calling Dell Tech support and seeing if you have to use updates
from Dell or if you can use ATI's and other manufacturer'rs drivers.

Hey Leslie;

The flashing is caused by an older version of ATI's video drivers. Download
the latest from the ATI website and install them. That will fix the
graphics problems. I'm not sure what sort of sound you have, either a
separate sound card or onboard sound. Onboard sound can be a problem as
motherboard manufacturers often don't invest a lot. An exception would be
the sound on the Nforce 2 motherboards. I have a Soundblaster Audigy with a
5.1 speaker set and the sound is very smooth.
